About Global Youth Entrepreneurs Forum 2017 – WE THE FUTURE

Organised by The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, Global Youth Entrepreneurs Forum was launched in 2014. Since then an extensive network of over 3,500 participants from over 23 countries and regions have been built to embrace innovation and youth entrepreneurship.

Global Youth Entrepreneurship Forum 2017 is jointly organised by HKFYG and HKU DreamCatchers, co-organisers include Shenzhen Youth Federation (SZYF), Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub (hereafter referred to as E Hub) and The Dragon Foundation to present the 4th edition of this exciting event this year. About 1,000 participants will gather on 13 June 2017 in Hong Kong and on 14 June 2017 at Shenzhen Qianhai (transport included) at Guangdong (Pilot) Free Trade Zone. Panel discussions, breakout sessions, exhibitions and competitions will enrich participants with the best tips in business, the curated information of start-up stories and breaking news about technology and innovation. A wide range of hot topics including IoT, robotics, e-commerce, FinTech, VR&AR, investment, media, creativity and culture will be covered for participants to share, learn and network together.

The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) was founded in 1960 and is now the city’s largest youth service organisation. For the last 56 years, it has been committed to serving the youth of Hong Kong through the provision of a variety of services, activities and programmes, which have an annual attendance of over five million. We encourage youth to reach their fullest potential and with community support, we now have over 70 service units. We also have 12 core services, which include the Youth S.P.O.Ts, M21 Multimedia Services, Employment Services, Youth at Risk Services, Counselling Services, Parenting Services, Leadership Training, Volunteer Services, Education Services, Creativity Education and Youth Exchange, Leisure, Cultural and Sports Services, and Research and Publications. We encourage young people to grow into responsible and dutiful citizens and we now have over 190,000 registered volunteers and 450,000 registered members. We believe that our motto HKFYG • Here for You reaffirms our commitment and dedication to the young people of Hong Kong.

HKU Dream Catchers

HKU DreamCatchers is the University of Hong Kong’s focal point to ignite and develop the culture on creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship across the campus through Entrepreneurship-based and Innovation-inspiring activities including events, workshops, mentorship, seed fund, co-working spaces, hackathon etc. It is cross-sector and inter-generational, with students, alumni, friends old and new and people with passion and determination. It covers the spheres of Social Innovation, Media Entrepreneurship, Business & Technology, Creativity & Culture etc. to align with the University’s mission of Innovation and Interdisciplinary

It was launched with the inaugural forum in 2015, initiated by Development & Alumni Affairs Office with various academic and administrative departments and units participating: Technology Transfer Office; the Centre of Development and Resources for Students; and the Journalism and Media Studies Centre 1,200 alumni, students and industry leaders attended this full-day launch pad for entrepreneurial networking.

HKU DreamCatchers has partnered with Sino Group, Cyberport, Science Park, Stanford University, MIT Hong Kong Innovation Node, Startup Weekend, PMQ etc in running different kinds of events, forums, medical technology hackthon, mentorship and programmes to nurture the future innovator and entrepreneurs.


Shenzhen Youth Federation (SZYF), one of Shenzhen people’s organizations, is a federative body of Shenzhen youth organizations. The SZYF is a patriotic united front for young people from all ethnic groups.

Besides its commitment to unite and guide young people to devote themselves to the development of Shenzhen, which is to become an international city worldwide, the SZYF aims to represent and protect the legitimate rights and interests of young people and promote youth participation and development. Situated in Qianhai, the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub (hereafter referred to as E Hub) is invested by the Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone, which has forced a strategic partnership with The Shenzhen Youth Federation and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, to steer the operations of E Hub. It will commence working business by the end of 2014 setting a new milestone for closer Guangdong-Hong Kong cooperation. E Hub is committed to providing an innovative entrepreneurial base for young people aged 18 – 45 from Shenzhen, Hong Kong and around the world. It will foster about 200 young entrepreneurs or start-up companies with high potential focusing on modern logistics, information services, technology, cultural and creative industries and related professional services. E Hub will also explore a new model of industrial incubators to support innovative entrepreneurship.

The Dragon Foundation was inaugurated in February 2000 with wide community support as a joint initiative of the Home Affairs Bureau, Home Affairs Department of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG). It is incorporated under the Companies Ordinance in Hong Kong and the Secretariat is administered by HKFYG. It is a non-profit, charitable organization with a long-term commitment to nurturing talented young Chinese people from around the world.

The Foundation organised a series of programmes to forward its mission. People of Chinese ethnic origin are provided with opportunities to meet, explore topical global issues and exchange ideas, thereby building a network among themselves. Flagship programmes include the "Dragon 100" which annually invites 100 young ethnic Chinese from around the world to gather in Hong Kong and visit to the Greater China to study Chinese culture, exchange ideas on chosen theme and build network; the "Global Youth Forum" which brings together worldwide participants to study issues of regional and global importance; and the "Lecture Series for Youth Leaders," through which prominent figures of international repute share their experiences and achievement with young leaders in Hong Kong.

The “DragoNation” established in 2008, serves as the alumni network made up of past programme participants and works to strengthen the connection among Chinese leaders worldwide as they realize their visions and contribute to their communities.
